LOVEBIRD

Phylum:
Class:
Order:
Family:
Chordata
Aves
Psittaciformes
Psittacidae

Lovebirds are small parakeets found in Africa. The six species are all about 4 inches long (10 cm) and pairs of lovebirds spend much of their time huddled together bill-to-bill. This trait gives them their name; indeed, lovebirds do mate for life, unlike most birds.

These cute little birds look like small parrots and are generally green in color. They are popular pet birds, because of their bright colors as well as their "loving" habits. They eat a variety of food, including seeds, fruit, nectar, and insects. Flocks of lovebirds may damage crops.

Of all the bats, only the vampire bat drinks blood. It lives in parts of Central and South America and feeds at night on the blood of sleeping horses and cattle.
