Psittacidae

Lorikeets are colorful little parrots distributed over the Malay Archipelago, Polynesia, and Australia. There are 31 species, ranging in size from 6 to 16 inches (15 to 40 cm). They are all mainly green, with patches of other colors - red, blue, black, brown, yellow or purple - on the head, neck, and breast.

Lorikeets feed on buds, fruit, and flowers, which they crush to obtain nectar. They move around in flocks, following the seasonal blossoming of eucalyptus and other flowering trees.

Flocks of lorikeets may descend onto orchards and rob the fruit crop.

Just like people, monkeys live in families. A big group might contain as many as fifty monkeys.
