Alcedinidae
Dacelo novaeguineae; Dacelo leachi (blue-winged)

Found in Australia, the kookaburra belongs to the kingfisher family. They do not live near water, and their original habitat is open forest. They particularly favor gum trees. Nowadays, kookaburras are found in parks and gardens in Australia.

There are two species of this bird; the laughing jackass because of its chuckling cry; and the blue-winged kookaburra. They will eat anything animal, including large insects, crabs, fish, reptiles, and other birds. They are also known as snake-killers. Very interesting creatures.

Many sea slugs look like bright, frilly plants. In fact, they are relatd to snails, although they don't have outer shells. They are protected by their nasty taste, and their bright colors warn enemies that they are not good to eat.
