The Kinkajou is a relative of the panda and is found in central and northern South America. It feeds at night, and spends the day resting on a branch or hollow in a tree trunk. Although the kinkajou is a carnivore, its diet is mostly fruit. It's soft and woolly fur is gold to brown in color with lighter colored underparts. The kinkajou can be kept as a pet and is often called a honey bear for it is especially fond of honey.

The kinkajou is well adapted to life in the trees. It has a long and supple body and its forelegs are shorter than its hind legs. The strong tail is adapted for grasping branches and can be used as a fifth limb. The young, of which are born blind in litters of 1 or 2, can hang by their tails by the time they are seven weeks old.
