Urocyon cinereoargenteus

The grey fox, or tree fox as it is often referred to, is a skilled tree-climber. The short legged fox is found in southern Canada, the United States, Central America and northern South America. Its head and body measure up to be 28 inches (70 cm) and it weighs up to 15 lbs (7 kg).

Other foxes climb trees, but the grey fox is unusual in that it grips the trunk with its forefeet and pushes upward with its hind feet - like a cat. On the ground it hunts mice, squirrels, small birds, and insects. It also eats eggs and likes fruit.
