FALCON

Phylum:
Class:
Order:
Family:
Chordata
Aves
Falconiformes
Falconidae

Falcons and hawks are both day-flying birds of prey. Falcons are usually the faster fliers, with long, pointed wings, whereas hawks wings are shorter and broader. Both are beautiful and amazing to watch in flight.

Long admired for their speed, grace, and hunting prowess, falcons are used in the ancient sport of falconry. Among falconers, the peregrine is the most favored bird. In this, as in all true falcons, the female is the larger and most aggressive. Other members of the falcon family include the gyrfalcon, hobby and kestrel. The little falconets of the Tropics are hardly bigger than sparrows.

Foxes often make their way across fields or along overgrown railroad tracks at night, to feed on the food that people throw into their trash cans.
