Canis familiaris dingo

Dingos are the wild dogs of Australia. They stand approximately (50 cm) high at the shoulder, and their coloring ranges from light red to brown. Some dingos are brown with black streak markings. The dingo is particularly unique, in that, it is one of the few placenta-born mammals found in Australia.

In the wild, dingos hunt in small groups and catch animals such as kangaroos, wallabies, sheep and cattle. For this reason, they are relentlessly hunted by people. However, they are very cautious. Despite the fact that thousands have been killed, they are still quite common.

All wild dogs hunt, but most pet dogs would starve if they were left to fend for themselves. Some breeds, though , like the bull terrier, still have a powerful instinct for hunting.
