Colobus polykomos (black); Colobus badius (red); Colobus verus (olive)

Colobus monkeys are timid animals, rarely coming out of the dense forest
where they live. They range from Senegal to Ethiopia and southward to
Angola, but despite this range, they are common nowhere. Of the three
species, the endangered black colobus is the best known. Its coat usually
has short, black fur with long plumes of white on the tail and sides. There
is also white on the chin, cheeks, and forehead. The endangered red colobus
has a black body with chestnut-colored head, arms, and legs. The rare olive
colobus is unusual in that the mother carries her new-born young in her
mouth for the first few weeks of its life. This is probably because her
hair is too short for it to grip. Colobus monkeys live in family groups.
They are mainly leaf-eaters. Their chief predators are eagles and man.

The cheetah is the fastest land animal. It can run at 70 miles per hour (90 km/h), but only for a short distance, and only in a straight line. A fast antelope can often escape a cheetah.
