Animal "Species"

Each particular type, or species, of animal has a scientific name which, usually appearing in italics, is recognized by zoologists worldwide. The members of each animal species contain the "blueprint" for that species in the cells of their bodies and, because they usually mate only with their own kind, they automatically produce more of the same kind of breed.
